May, 8 days old {Marin County Newborn Photography}

“Just when you think you know love, something little comes along to remind you just how big it really is.”

If you’re anything like most new parents, chances are, you’ll remember these first days and weeks as a bit of a blur – the sleepless nights, the seemingly endless feedings (and then, of course, the hundreds (millions?) of diaper changes), and not to mention the fact that you’re learning everything about this little person that you love so intensely you think your heart is going to explode. How can you even put into words that love-at-first-sight feeling you have when you become a parent?

My hope for your newborn session is that it gives you the chance to always remember those first days, how small and fragile your little one was at the very beginning, that bond that you felt the minute you saw her. Those little features that will change and fill out in just a few short weeks, learning about that personality you know is already there.

Sleepy smiles that turn into real ones, and those tiny fingers that wrap around your finger will one day hold your hand – first to take a few wobbly steps, then to cross the street, maybe a bit of strength before walking into the first day of school, and later as you walk her down the aisle.

It really does go that fast, so be sure to hold fast to these memories, make sure you are really in each moment, for they outgrow them so quickly.

Kiss those sweet faces, enjoy your snuggles – this parenting gig is the greatest adventure you’ll ever experience.

Without further ado, say hello to little Miss May, just over one week old. Eight days, to be exact. So tiny, so peacefully perfect.

Every little detail of little May is loved so intensely by her Mom and Dad, and if that sweet sleepy smile is any indication, you can tell she knows.

May’s newborn session took place in my studio in beautiful downtown Tiburon, and she was just incredible. Some babies come in for their newborn session and it takes a bit for them to settle down, but not little May. She slept through her whole newborn session and only woke at the end.

Are you expecting a baby? Send me a message and let’s talk about your newborn session! It’s never too early to schedule your baby’s first photo session, and within the first two weeks of your baby’s life are the best time to capture this quickly fleeting stage.
